Rachael and Steve’s story began in April 2018 at The Clubhouse at Baywood, where they became more than just coworkers. Their connection grew through playful flirting, special lunches that Steve would cook just for Rachael, and “banquet menu meetings” that became their excuse to steal more time together. What started at work quietly blossomed into something deeper. They kept their relationship hidden for a while, even taking their first trip together to Wilmington, North Carolina, where they could finally relax and simply be together. But at the SoDel Christmas Party later that year, at Starboard in Dewey Beach, coworkers caught glimpses of Rachael and Steve laughing, dancing, and enjoying orange crushes together all night long. After that night, their secret was out. By early 2019, Steve was promoted to Head Chef at Matt’s Fish Camp Lewes. To this day, Rachael still jokingly claims partial credit, insisting their secret romance must have helped pave the path to his promotion. Through every high and low over the next eight years, Rachael and Steve always found their way back to each other. Their story grew stronger, steadier, and more full of love with every chapter. Then, on Steve’s birthday, August 10th, 2025, he asked Rachael the question that would change everything, to spend their lives together. On a sailboat in St. Michael’s, Maryland, one of their favorite harbor towns on the Eastern Shore, he proposed. Surrounded by calm water and a place already rich with memories, Rachael said yes! Now, St. Michael’s holds an even deeper meaning — the place where their next chapter of “forever” truly began.
